Thank you for your interest in applying for a grant through the Jerry Kiernan Foundation. 

Before you get started please read the criteria and terms associated with the grant process in detail. To proceed with your application please tick the box to accept the criteria.

Criteria for consideration

1. Purpose To help talented athletes to reach their potential by providing single or multi year grants
2. Criteria Those athletes of proven ability at junior and senior levels whose standing judged against World, European and Irish standards indicate the potential to compete at international level with distinction.
3. Budget Not all athletes who meet criteria will necessarily receive funding due to budget limitations.

Eligibility

1. Be a member of Athletics Ireland (AAI) or Athletics NI and/ or an Irish citizen.
2. Abide by rules and regulations of WADA
3. Be over 18 years of age and under 40 years of age
4. Declare other income
5. Agree to appear in promotion of the Jerry Kiernan Foundation (website and brochures and to appear at events)
6. Provide a letter of recommendation from two respected athletes or sportspeople (e.g. a coach, head of an athletics club, past international etc.) This can be uploaded at the end of the application process

***Athletes that do not meet the eligibility criteria may be accepted in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the directors and the selection panel.

The Rules

1. Complete application form through the website (including agreeing to the terms and conditions).
2. Sign agreement. The agreement must be signed by the athlete.
3. The grant must be used in accordance with the targets detailed by the applicant in the application form
4. The athlete's progress will be monitored with a quarterly review and release of funds will follow.
5. All decisions are made at the sole discretion of the selection panel

Role of the Selection Panel

1. The panel shall be appointed by the directors and executives of the JKF. A new panel will be selected annually with the option of renewal of existing members.
2. Once appointed the panel will act independently of the directors and executives of the Jerry Kiernan Foundation
3. The panel shall work through a shortlist of eligible candidates approved by the board.
4. The panel shall consider the athletes potential and need against the eligibility criteria.
5. All decisions are made at the sole and final discretion of the selection panel.
